Flashback to 2004 Illinois bowhunt with Greg Miller
First off, I’d like to thank my good friends from North American Whitetail Television for allowing us to use this footage from a bowhunt I did for them in 2004. And what a hunt it was! From the beginning, cameraman Mike Clerkin and I were literally covered up with bucks.
Now I really thought my hunt was over when this monster buck followed a hot doe out into a field a mere 75 yards away. But after taking several close looks at my decoy, he turns and follows his girlfriend back into the woods.
The second afternoon finds Mike and I on a stand site situated along the edge of cut soybean field. We’ve got the Carry-Lite Decoy set up 20 yards out in front of us.
As the late afternoon shadows lengthen, I decide to do a bit of rattling. And it doesn’t take long to get a response. This shooter buck has definitely seen the Carry-Lite decoy, and he’s coming in on a string.
It’s getting close to the end of our hunt, and we’re still seeing bucks. Problem is, we’re not seeing the big deer we’d been seeing earlier. But that’s about to change…
